Georgia’s Support for Brain Injured Community Grows with Second Building Campaign

ATLANTA, June 6, 2019 – Lloyd Bell of Bell Law Firm, Georgia’s preeminent law firm for victims of medical malpractice and catastrophic injury, today announces his renewed commitment to the Board of Directors for Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse. Atlanta-based Side by Side is the only non-profit in the Southeast dedicated solely to rebuilding lives after brain injury.

Lloyd originally chaired the Side by Side Board of Directors during its first capital campaign more than a decade ago, helping to oversee the purchase of its current Stone Mountain facility. Now, he is proud to rejoin the board of directors as the organization continues to grow and thrive.

“Brain injury can strike anyone at almost any time, from falls off side-walk scooters, truck accidents or medical negligence, just to name a few of the more common events. Millions of Americans suffer traumatic brain injuries every year often with devastating results such as broken families, lost income, and hopelessness. Side by Side is an incredible resource that plays a vital role in the brain injury community by offering hope and helping people rebuild after brain injury,” says Lloyd Bell, Owner of Bell Law Firm. “I’m excited to return for this second campaign as the organization continues to grow and help even more people suffering the effects of brain injury.”

Side by Side works in partnership with the Shepherd Center and other trauma centers to help provide long-term support and assistance for people who experience traumatic brain injuries after hospital-based care has ended. Supported by Atlanta’s legal community since 2000, Side by Side relies on contributions to provide continuous support that no other organization in the Atlanta area or surrounding states offers — support that enables people with brain injury to relearn life skills, to work, and to socialize, while helping their families navigate a lifelong journey of balancing care-giving with self-care.

“We are honored to have such a servant leader as Lloyd return to our Board of Directors as we enter our 20th year of supporting adults with brain injuries,” says Cindi Johnson, Executive Director for Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse. “Lloyd chaired our Board of Directors during our first capital campaign when we purchased our current building, so it’s only fitting that he return 10 years later as we wrap up the second building campaign that allows Side by Side to expand services for a growing membership and staff.”
